PROGRAM: Head Start - NW
POSITION(S): Teacher Aide – Floater (10 month position)
LOCATION: Enid Area
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Head Start teacher with the planning and delivery of the educational program, as well as with providing appropriate positive guidance and discipline. Assist with the supervision of children in the classroom, on the playground, and with regard to transportation. Shares in the responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Prefer Bachelors and/or AA Degree. Two years of childcare or Head Start experience preferred. Must have a CDA credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree or, are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire. Must be free of communicable diseases and have no criminal history as verified by DHS Office of Background investigation. Must have current Oklahoma drivers license and vehicle insurance.

LOCATION(s): Laverne – Parkview Pals Head Start
JOB SUMMARY: To provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips.) To promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of Head Start children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. To develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessments on progress and facilitate transition into kindergarten.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Must have a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in early childhood. Prefer Child Development Associate Credential. Experience in pre-school classroom is required, two years is preferred. Excellent communication skills, working knowledge of available community resources and Head Start program components. OSBI background check and Oklahoma DHS Criminal Background Review required. Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and proof of auto insurance. Within 30 days of employment must be Pediatric first aid and CPR certified. Employment is conditional pending immediate enrollment in Head Start Orientation. Ability to respond appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or a crisis situation. Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children's needs. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

JOB SUMMARY: Creates and manages an attractive, warm and challenging learning environment for infants and toddlers. Incorporates developmentally appropriate early intervention, learning and care activities which meet the needs of the group as well as those of individual children and families. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. To develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessment on progress and facilitate transition into next level of education. Responsible for the safety of the children.
QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood. Associates Degree or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with three years’ experience in early childhood is required. Must have experience in teaching and Early Childhood Program administration. Excellent communication skills and a working knowledge of available community resources required. Knowledge of and ability to comply with Head Start Performance Standards is mandatory. Ability to respond appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or a crisis situation. Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children's needs. Lifting up to 60 lbs. Eligible applicants must pass a DHS Background review. Pre-employment drug testing required. Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license, proof of automobile liability insurance and a good driving record. Within 30 days of employment must be Pediatric first aid and CPR certified. Employment is conditional pending immediate enrollment in Head Start Orientation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 21 years old. Must have and maintain an accident-free driving record. Must posses a valid Oklahoma drivers license. Must have a clear background. Prefer driving experience in all weather conditions, knowledge of the area, and vehicle mechanical knowledge. Pre-employment drug testing and criminal background check is mandatory.

PROGRAM: Head Start-Northwest
POSITION(S): Mentor/Instructional-Coach
LOCATION: Covers All Head Start Northwest Counties.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining reliability in teaching practices and assessment tools specific to Big Five Head Start. Must develop and maintain positive and supportive relationships with all Head Start classroom staff. Develops a schedule for conducting classroom observations as a foundation for determining needs. Responsible for the coordination and oversight of the practice-based coaching system for the program. Engage in practice-based coaching to develop individual coaching plans, with specific goals and areas for growth identified which are based on classroom/teacher observations. Promote best practices in early childhood development and assessment based on Head Start Performance Standards, Creative Curriculum, State Childcare Licensing Guidelines, and other prescribed curricula used by the Head Start Program. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, staff and childcare partners is required. Must have good communication skills and ability to follow and give clear verbal and written instructions. Must have the ability to work independently, work a flexible schedule and travel throughout Big Five service area. Serves on the Head Start Management Team. Shares a general responsibility for the safety and well-being of all the children enrolled in the program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with minimum of three years’ in early childhood education programs. Previous Early Head Start or Head Start experience. Experience in practice-based coaching or other work with adult learners. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are a must. Must demonstrate ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing needs and priorities are also required. Computer literacy including database management (Child Plus) and Microsoft Office are required. OSBI background check, Oklahoma DHS Criminal Background Review, and drug screening required. Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and proof of auto insurance.
PROGRAM: Transportation
POSITION(S): Multi-County Route Supervisor/Dispatcher
LOCATION: Covers All counties served (Bryan, Carter, Coal, and Love)
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supervision of Van Drivers and Dispatchers in multiple counties. Responsible for coordination of all maintenance and repairs to Section 5311 vehicles in all areas. Responsible for making work assignments and for routine inspections of all vehicles. Responsible for assuring that all drivers treat passengers with courtesy and respect and that passenger safety is a top priority at all times. Responsible for the transportation of passengers as per van drivers job description. Responsible for receiving and logging calls for transportation services from the public. Responsible for dispatching vans to transport customers. Maintains radio contact with in-service vans, issues tickets to drivers and records required data. Collects data and implements all directions from Transit Director or Program Manager. As a Van Driver: Responsible for (1) transportation of passengers on both dispatch and established route bases; (2) the safety and well-being of passengers during loading and unloading, as well as during transport; (3) for passenger fare collection and completion of passenger logs; (4) vehicle logs and all other written documentation required by the program; (5) the maintenance and up keep of vehicles; (6) implements the proper use of ADA lifts and tie downs; and (7) practicing all safety measures at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 21 years old. Prefer at least two years of college level training in business administration. Experience in personnel supervision and/or management a plus. Must demonstrate proficiency in basic math and English skills. Prefer experience with dispatching or other radio contact activities. Experience in working with the public in a cooperative setting with other employees a plus. Must submit to drug testing and be in accordance with FTA Drug and Alcohol guidelines.
PROGRAM: Head Start
POSITION(S): Substitute Teacher
LOCATION: All Big Five Head Start Locations
ENTRY LEVEL SALARY: $10.81 hourly
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting in the Head Start program in any capacity required by the absence of a regular employee. This may be assisting in the classroom, family services, food service, custodial or clerical work. Assists with the children in any area as required. Shares in the responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Must demonstrate capacity for effectively caring for pre-school aged children and must be free of any communicable diseases and have no criminal record as verified by the OSBI and DHS. Must obtain and maintain First Aide and CPR certification within thirty days of employment. Must have current drivers license, proof of automobile vehicle insurance, and a good driving record is required.
