POSITION(S):  Teacher Aide – Floater (10 month position)

LOCATION:  Enid Area                                              

JOB SUMMARY:  Responsible for assisting the Head Start teacher with the planning and delivery of the educational program, as well as with providing appropriate positive guidance and discipline.  Assist with the supervision of children in the classroom, on the playground, and with regard to transportation. Shares in the responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Prefer Bachelors and/or AA Degree. Two years of childcare or Head Start experience preferred. Must have a CDA credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree or, are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire. Must be free of communicable diseases and have no criminal history as verified by DHS Office of Background investigation. Must have current Oklahoma drivers license and vehicle insurance.

POSITION(S): Dispatcher/Flex Van Driver – Full Time

LOCATION: Coalgate

Entry Level Hourly Wage: $13.50 CDL, $12.50 No-CDL

JOB SUMMARY: Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. Responsible for receiving and logging calls for transportation services from the public. Responsible for dispatching vans to transport customers. Maintains radio contact with in-service vans, issues tickets to drivers and records required data. Collects data and implements all directions from transit Director or Route Supervisor. As a Van Driver: Responsible for (1) transportation of passengers on both dispatch and established route bases; (2) the safety and well-being of passengers during loading and unloading, as well as during transport; (3) for passenger fare collection and completion of passenger logs; (4) vehicle logs and all other written documentation required by the program; (5) the maintenance and up keep of vehicles; (6) implements the proper use of ADA lifts and tie downs; and (7) practicing all safety measures at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be proficient in basic math and English skills. Prefer experience with dispatching or other radio contact activities. Experience in working with the public in a cooperative setting with other employees a plus. Must have and maintain an accident-free driving record. Must possess a valid Oklahoma drivers license. Must have a clear background. Prefer driving experience in all weather conditions, knowledge of the area, and vehicle mechanical knowledge. Must submit to drug testing and be in accordance with FTA Drug and Alcohol guidelines.

JOB SUMMARY:  Responsible for planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the Head Start Health Services Program.  Responsible for linking Head Start families with an ongoing system of health care, assisting parents in the selection of health providers, counseling them about child or family health problems, and promoting parent involvement in all aspects of the health program.  Negotiates with the Health Advisory Committee and local health care professionals and service providers to ensure that services for families are available and accessible.  Reviews, evaluates and interprets health records and other vital health service data.  Promotes health and safety practices in the program and coordinates safety and sanitation procedures, first aide and emergency medical procedures.  Shares in the responsibility for the care, safety and well being of all children in the program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be 18 years of age and have obtained a High School Diploma or GED. Individual from RN, LPN, LPV field highly preferred.  College level courses in Early Childhood and the Health field desired. Two years of experience in working with pre-school age children required.  Must have good communication skills and be capable of working productively as a team member with other Head Start employees, families and professionals.  Must have dependable transportation to travel throughout the Big Five Head Start area.  Must comply with agency policies and procedures. Position will be located in Central or Northwest Oklahoma. Eligible applicants must pass a DHS Background review. Pre-employment drug testing required. Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license, proof of automobile liability insurance and a good driving record. Within 30 days of employment must be Pediatric first aid and CPR certified. Employment is conditional pending immediate enrollment in Head Start Orientation. Ability to respond appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or a crisis situation. Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children's needs. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

POSITION(S):  Mental Health/Disabilities Specialist

LOCATION: Covers All Northwest Area                                

JOB SUMMARY:  Responsible for coordination of diagnosis, referral and follow-up of children exhibiting disabilities.  Responsible for monitoring the progress of children diagnosed with disabilities under the mental health portion of the health plan.  Serves on the Head Start Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in one of the following fields:  Special Education; Psychology; Speech and Hearing; Physical Therapy; Social Work; or Nursing.  Must exhibit proven ability to relate to parents when discussing children with disabilities, and the proven ability to relate to professional care givers in the various disciplines associated with mental health and physical disabilities Excellent communication skills, working knowledge of available community resources and Head Start program components. Oklahoma DHS/OBI Criminal Background Review required. Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and proof of auto insurance.

POSITION(S): Professional Development Specialist

LOCATION: Durant                  

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for monitoring the classroom operation to maintain Head Start regulations and Department of Education 4-year-old regulations.  Responsible for providing Pre-Service and In-Service training sessions for staff.  Serves as CDA and OCCC’s trainer for Head Start staff.  Responsible for the Child Abuse/Neglect Component.  Serves on the Head Start Management Team.  Shares a general responsibility for the safety and well-being of all children enrolled in the Big Five Head Start Program.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood related field.  Prefer classroom experience and Early Childhood Development Certification. Must have leadership ability, good interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills. OSBI criminal records verification required.  Must have reliable transportation, a valid Oklahoma driver’s license, proof of automobile liability insurance and a good driving record are required.
