Caring for the Caregiver

Family Caregiver Support provides information and services for persons caring for a family member or loved one with a disability or special health care need.

You are a Caregiver if you are:

The person who is providing full-time care on a regular basis for a family member or loved one who has a disability, chronic health condition, or cognitive impairment. Big Five can help with access to assistance, respite care, and support groups.

Respite provides the Caregiver:

Time away can result in a reduction in stress on you and your family. Our goal is to help you so that you may have the information and services you need to take care of your loved one. 

  • Time for yourself
  • Time for doctor’s appointments, running your errands, etc.
  • Time with other family members

You are eligible for assistance...

  • If you are caring for a loved one who is 60 years of age or older who relies on you for at least two activities of daily living needs.                        

OR:

  • A grandparent 55 or older caring for a grandchild under 18 years of age or disabled. (Note: you must have legal custody or guardianship)
